Coursework for Typography

Assignment: Create a menu using typography with the goals of increased readability, employ hierarchy + logic, and create engagement and a visual identity. 

Tavolo Rustica is a fine dining Italian restaurant located in Boston, MA. Nestled among antique shops, boutiques, and cafes along Beacon Hill's Famous Charles Street, Tavolo Rustica is a staple in Boston's oldest neighborhood. 

The cover design incorporates typography acting as a pattern to create a decorative border. The letters T and R were used to create a monogram pattern. In the logo design kerning was used to amplify the spacing between letters. Leading was also incorporated to minimize the vertical space between each line of type. Kerning and leading allowed the stems, ascenders, and descenters to flow together. The menu design took a minimalist approach to focus on readability, hierarchy, and visual identity.
